Lilau Square is located in the north of Pena Hill, near the Mandarin's house. This square is very important to the people of Macau as it was their only source of natural spring water. The very famous phrase "One who drinks from Lilau never forgets Macao" has its origin from this nostalgic fondness.
It is also one of the earliest Portuguese settlements in Macau. The Chinese architecture of the Mandarin house stands off as a sharp contrast to the evident Portuguese atmosphere of the square. From here, one can easily walk to Mandarin house and is only 10 minutes away from the A-Ma temple.
