Manta Point Maldives, Maldives Overview

Manta Point, located on the south-east coast of the Northern Male Atoll in the Maldives, is a seasonal dive site. Also known as the Lankan Point, this part of Maldives is well known for its gentle slopes underwater and colourful coral reefs. It is the place to go to during the South Western Monsoon season when the Mantas gather at this point.

The cleaner wrasses can be seen swimming out to the Mantas for cleaning their skins and removing the parasites making it an ideal Manta cleaning point for the elegant sea creatures. The reef slopes quite gently up to 30 meters before dropping suddenly. The entire reef contains a number of ledges, underwater caves and rocky shelves that house a huge number of colourful fish. It also consists of three different cleaning sites where the Manta Rays congregate for obtaining the cleaning services by the planktons.

How to Reach Manta Point

It is necessary to reach the principal island of Male in the Maldives for reaching the Atolls. There is a ferry service from Male that takes the tourists to the Manta cleaning station and other nearby islands within an hour. However, the visitors need to book their seats in advance to avoid the rush during the bust season. Some tourists also reach Manta point via speed boats from the south of Hudhuran Fushi Island.
