Heaven Island

Heaven Island, also known as Cennet Adası or Paradise Island is an enchanting peninsula, connected to the mainland by an isthmus known as the Fake Strait (Yalancı Boğazı). The island’s waters are often likened to a natural aquarium, teeming with marine life, making it a paradise for divers and snorkelers. It is a protected area due to its natural and archaeological heritage and its main attractions include Nimara Cave and Phosphorus Cave.

The island offers scenic hiking trails, leading to ancient ruins and providing breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes. The verdant landscapes of the island, dotted with various plant species and the unique trogloxene butterflies found in Nimara Cave, attract nature enthusiasts and hikers. This cave, used by humans from the Paleolithic Age to the Bronze Age, holds significant archaeological value. It contains remnants of ancient settlements, including parts of an ancient city wall, a watchtower, and old houses. Additionally, the Phosphorus Cave, known for its phosphorescent glow, is surrounded by local legends that add a mystical charm to the island. Tourists often participate in the ritual of making a wish and throwing a coin into the cave.
