Poklonnaya Hill, also known as "Bow Hill," is a prominent historical site in Moscow, Russia. Situated between Kutuzovsky Prospekt and Minskaya Street, it stands as one of the city's highest natural elevations. It is renowned for its extensive memorial complex dedicated to Russia's victories over foreign invaders, particularly during the Great Patriotic War (World War II).
In the 1960s, Soviet authorities designated Poklonnaya Hill as the site for an open-air museum commemorating Russia's triumph over Napoleon. The area was later expanded to honor the victory in World War II. The memorial complex, known as Victory Park, was officially opened on May 9, 1995, marking the 50th anniversary of the end of the war. The park features a vast array of monuments, museums, and religious structures, each symbolizing different facets of Russia's wartime history.
