Pinakothek der Moderne is a renowned art museum in Munich, Germany, located in the Kunstareal cultural district. It is known for its extensive collection of modern and contemporary art, design, and architecture.
This Germany's largest modern-art museum built by Stephan Braunfels, whose four storeys are centred on an eye like dome through which natural light filters through the galleries! This striking glass and concrete complex, opened only in 2002 is home to four outstanding collections - art, graphic art, architecture, and design. On display are some exemplary modern classics - works of Picasso, Klee, Dali, Andy Warhol, Dan Flavin. In addition to art, there are representations of applied design from the industrial revoluion to today. The Graphics Collection boasts of art on paper, while the Architecture museum has architectural illustrations, photographs and models. The Pinakothek der Moderne is yet another unique experience, a vivid contrast from its surrounding counterparts.
