Blossom Park, Munnar Overview

Blossom Park is a splendid park located about three kilometres from the beautiful town of Munnar. It is located near the Pallivasal Hydro-electric project, near River Muthirappuzha and amidst the mesmerising Kanan Devan Hill Tea Estates. The park expands over an area of 16 acres and is home to a variety of flowering plants.

The beautiful park attracts tourists from all over the world with natural and seasonal flora. One may explore amidst the lush greenery in and around the park, click loads of pictures or indulge in one or more of the recreational and adventure activities like bird-watching, cycling, boating, trekking etc.

Things To Do at Blossom Park

1. Children's play area 
The well-maintained children's play area is completely well equipped with swings, hammocks, sandpit, etc. amidst the lush green landscaped garden. Other than this, the park also has tree houses, ropeways and boating only for the children.

2. Boating
With the park being located near River Muthirappuzha, boating is another favourite activity amongst the tourists. Muthirappuzha is the largest tributary of River Periyar and is also where the Pallivasal hydel power house is located.

3. Bird Watching 
The natural vegetation and the well maintained park are home to a variety of birds. Thus, making the park an apt location for bird-watchers.

4. Recreational sport 
Other than the natural beauty of the location, sports like trekking, roller skating, cycling, zorbing, badminton, nature walks are some of the recreational activities that attract tourists.

5. Flower Show
Between March and April every year, a flower is arranged at the park. Tourists can experience the colours of nature at its best in the form of a variety of fragrant flowers in the park inviting not just the butterflies but people also. During the show, a flea market and a fish spa are also arranged for the visitors. Do carry your camera to capture the vibrant venue and cheerful people.

Pallivasal Hydro-Electric Plant

The Pallivasal Hydro-Electric Plant is located on River Muthisappuzha in Kerala which is the first hydro-electric plant in Kerala that was fully functioning in 1940. The project falls under the Southern hydroelectric region. It has a total installed capacity of 37 MW and is owned and managed by the Kerala State Electricity Board. The plant was renovated in 2002, and currently, the Pallivasal Extension Project is being implemented to completely utilise the available river water.

The best time to visit Blossom Park is between September and March as the region is extensively covered by lush green natural vegetation, most of the flowering plants bloom; letting the fresh air carry their mesmerising fragrance, and the temperature stays pleasant throughout the day making it a delightful experience to exploring the location. Also, the Blossom Park Flower show is arranged between March and April every year when tourists can experience the colours of nature at its best.

Tips For Visiting Blossom Park

1. Picking of plants and flowers is prohibited.
2. Entry into artificial waterfalls is not permitted.
3. If availing public transport, try to be there early and leave by 5:30 PM - 6:00 PM as the frequency of public transport decreases in the evening.
4. Wear appropriate trekking gear if you are planning to trek through the park.

Blossom Park is at a distance of 3 kilometres from Munnar. Tourists can take public transport or drive their private vehicles to reach the beautiful park via NH 85.
