Also known as the Neelayatakshi, this is one of the seven temples of the Thyagraja cult. Built in 6th century AD, this temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva whereas the presiding deity is known as Kayarohana.
His consort, Neelayatakshi - the one with the blue eyes - is worshipped here. The idol of Thyagraja is made with Lapis lazuli, which is a semi-precious blue colored stone. This temple is also famous for its processional dance in which the legend has it the Thyagraja dances like waves of sea.
