National Archaeological Museum of Naples (MANN) is one of Italy's most renowned museums and a must-visit destination for history and archaeology enthusiasts. It houses one of the world's finest collections of artifacts from Pompeii, Herculaneum, and other ancient Roman sites, as well as impressive displays of Greek, Roman, and Renaissance art.
When Vesuvius erupted in AD 79, it ruined these two cities. The devastation of Pompeii and Herculaneum by the Vesuvius volcano is depicted in computer animations, photographs, and video footage at the National Archaeological Museum. It also houses a colossal gemstone collection, including the globe's biggest gem (cameo), and a prehistory department.
In addition, the Farnese collection, discovered in the 16th Century in Rome during work on the Thermes of Caracalla, is also exhibited at the MANN.
