It is a cultural wonderland, home to the New Jersey Performing Arts Centre that hosts some of the nation's greatest theater pieces. It is also in close proximity to the global financial hub, New York City.
Being the third oldest city in the USA, Newark's history goes back to the mid-17th century. The Basilica Cathedral of Sacred Heart can be found here, an architectural marvel combining traditional English and Irish architectural styles to make the fifth largest cathedral of the country. Lincoln Park and Washington Park are two other centuries-old green spaces in the city, but the best part of the Newark is undoubtedly the Branch Brook Park, one of the oldest parts of the country and the largest population of cherry blossoms in the USA.
The Symphony Hall is another example of Newark's rich cultural roots, a grand arena that has hosted some of the best of classical music for almost a century.
