Venetian Castle of Parga, Parga Overview

The majestic castle of Parga is situated on top of a hill overlooking the village. The version of the castle we see today was built in the 16th century and sold to the Turks in the 18th century, when it was even more fortified. You can explore the Lion of Venice at the entrance, historical inscriptions, the embodiment of the two-headed eagle, the emblems of Ali Pasha, and the secret pathway to the sea.

You can view the castle while enjoying the breathtaking views of the landscape of the nearby region and the golden beach surrounding it. The Venetian Castle also has a hammam at its top. This was the spot where the harem of the Turkish sultans would reside. You can also walk around the huge complex of the castle along the stone paths, taking in the cool sea breeze from the cypress trees. Savor the local gastronomy in the amazing cafeteria of the castle after a day of exploring it. It was built in the 11th Century by the population of Parga, destroyed multiple times by invaders and also rebuilt four times by the Venetians.
