Lake Monger

Lake Monger, Perth Overview

Lake Monger, a scenic urban wetland in Perth, Western Australia, is located just 5 km northwest of the city center in the suburb of Wembley. Spanning approximately 70 hectares, it is a haven for birdwatching, featuring abundant black swans and waterbirds. Established as a public reserve in the late 19th century, the lake offers a popular 3.5 km walking and cycling trail, with picnic spots and sweeping views of Perth's skyline.

The lake is a favourite among the people of Perth. Every day tons of people head over to the park around the lake for recreational activities and to absorb the beautiful views of the city and the lake. The lake itself is home to a plethora of stunning black swans, swimming around with their chicks following them everywhere. As inviting as it will be, do be very careful about approaching them, as black swans can sometimes feel threatened and retaliate. The park, then, has lots of place for a quick game of footy or cricket with your friends and family. The perfect place for a little picnic!
