Wat Chetawan, Petaling Jaya Overview
Wat Chetawan is a Thai Buddhist temple in Petaling Jaya, built through the late 1950s and early 1960s for the area's Thai community. The main hall follows classic Thai temple architecture, with a steeply tiered roof, gilded gables and guardian figures flanking the steps, which makes it an unusual sight in a Malaysian suburb. Visitors are welcome outside prayer times, and modest dress is expected.
Wat Chetawan is a Buddhist temple complex. It's a Theravada Buddhist Thai temple. The Buddha Thammeen shrine inside, is a sight to behold, with its sparkling gold seat. People believe that this complex is built in the only true and original Thai style.
