Kamala Beach, Phuket Overview

Kamala beach to the north of Patong is popular among families and retired travellers, who enjoy a nice vacation in this quieter bay. The beach is famous for its restaurants along the coast including Cafe Del Mar and other popular Thai restaurants, and also has two small shopping alleys selling traditional trinkets.

The beach houses several cafes, bars, Thai restaurants, and shopping areas selling Thai knick-knacks as well. One of the top attractions here is the Phuket Fantasea show, where the dancers and elephants perform in a theme park nestled on the beach.

How to Reach Kamala Beach

Songthaews
The feasible way to get to Kamala beach is by taking public transportation, especially blue songthaews. They usually work through the routes from Phuket to Surin to Kamala. A songthaew from Phuket town costs around THB 40.
However, these songthaews do not run towards the north of the airport or the south of Patong. The connecting transport can only be taken from Phuket.

Smart Bus
If you are beach hopping along the western coast, you can take the Smart Bus that usually costs between THB 50 to THB 170. If you are visiting straight from the airport, consider taking Smart Bus that costs around THB 170 or a taxi that costs around THB 750. There are bus stops near the Big C supermarket, that is very close to the city centre.
