Agia Galini Beach is one of the well-organized beaches in Rethymno providing sunbeds, umbrellas, and ample space for sunbathing. It is a pebbly beach with a fee parking and a harbor nearby from where boat trips are organised to nearby attractions. It is known to have several water sports activities and can be reached by bus services that connect Rethymno and Heraklion to Agia Galini.
Nestled next to the exit of the Platys River, this beach is part of the vibrant village of Agia Galini. The village's emerald beaches, rugged caves to the west, and the mythological significance of Icarus and Daedalus enhance its allure. The area near the river features ruins of an ancient temple of Artemis. East of the main beach, one can explore quieter, less organized beaches, perfect for those who prefer a more secluded experience. The long beach stretches east to Kokkinos Pirgos.
