Crissy Field Beach, San Francisco Overview

The beach is a former US Army airfield and now is a part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. The easily accessible beach has a great view of the Golden Gate Bridge with many areas to set up beach shelters to take in the view. The nearby Crissy Field Marsh is a great place for some bird watching. The promenade, which links the Fort Point National Historic Site and the Marina, runs through the beach.

The recreational paradise is home to many kite surfers, so anyone with some experience in windsurfing or wakeboarding should give it a try. On clear days, you can see the Marin Headlands, Angel Island, and Alcatraz Island all the way across the San Francisco Bay. The East Beach has the Beach Hut Cafe where you can find some snacks. The West Bluff, however, is home to the Warming Hut Cafe which has both food and souvenirs. You can also find a huge climbing gym and bike shop for the active kind that frequent the beach. The nearby Golden Gate Promenade is a great place for hanging out and enjoy the scenery. It is often occupied by street artists and food vendors, so make sure to check them out.
