The traditional Megalochori village is a picturesque lively village located 7 km from Santorini airport. It is a hidden gem with excellent wineries, the largest wine-producing plants in Greece, and beautiful vineyards. The village is dotted with white churches, stunning hotels, cobblestoned narrow streets and alleys. It offers stunning views of the Agean sea.
The central square is the heart of Megalochori, where locals gather to play cards or grab coffee at the traditional cafes under the shade of trees. Along with discovering local stores, cafes and restaurants, you can admire the distinct neoclassical houses, old cave houses and stately houses dating back to the 17th century. These houses have great Cycladic architecture and have been preserved by authorities. There are also adorable churches to explore in the village. Megalochori is accessible by bus or car.
