Jurong East Malls, Singapore Overview

Found in the busy district of Jurong East, the shopping malls of Jurong East have earned recognition worldwide as being entertainment centres of global standards. One can see a variety of facilities such as Singapore's first Olympic-size ice rink, IMAX theatres, cineplexes, sky parks, a marine-themed playground, a gym with swimming pool, and other kinds of themed playgrounds, all concentrated in one area. There are five malls in the Jurong East area district named Jurong East Mall (JEM), Big Box, IMM, JCube and Westgate, of which the CapitaMall Trust runs the last three. Jurong East Mall

The Jurong East Mall, or JEM, is the third largest mall of suburban Singapore. Spread across six levels, the mall is home to 241 shop units, with famous retailers like Robinsons, FairPrice Xtra, Cathay Cineplexes, H&M, Marks and Spencers, and so on. Shoppers can find products falling under the following categories: Books & Stationery, Children's & Maternity, Electronics, Telecommunications & Household, Entertainment, Fashion, Health & Wellness, Lifestyle, Sports & Activewear, Confectionery & Food Retail. Apart from the amazing range of retail stores, JEM also boasts of the following features:
  • JEM Park, a cascading sky park made of green space and rooftop garden across levels 5 to 7.
  • JEM Play, a marine-themed playground with fun-filled rides for children to enjoy.

BigBox

The BIG BOX mall is the latest addition to the plethora of shopping malls in West Singapore. This massive 8-storeyed building houses all kinds of categories of products, following the theme of merging the factory and storefront experience to give shoppers a chance to purchase products at warehouse price while enjoying the easy experience of walking through a department store.

The various sections at BigBox are Warehouse, Leisure, Style, Munchy, Electronics, Communications, Silver, HIP, Habitat, Living, ID, and multi-channel retailing, the last one being the e-commerce outlet that offers home delivery to shoppers. Additionally, there is also a massive, high ceiling, column-free hall known as Mega Box, the biggest Exhibitions & Events Hall in the western part of Singapore. The Food Court, known as Yummy Box, offers a wide range of cuisines for various budgets, with an 800 seating capacity. There is also a huge play area where children can spend their time while their parents explore the mall.

Apart from the above-mentioned facilities, Big Boz also operated a pre-school, a 24-hour laundromat, a dance school, professional car wash services, and a storage facility.

How to Reach: BigBox is located on Boon Lay Way, opposite the Ng Teng Fong General Hospital. The Boon Lay Way Big Box bus station is right next to the mall. Better connectivity can be found from the Jurong East MRT Interchange, a ten-minute walk from the mall.

IMM

The oldest mall among the malls of Jurong East, IMM is the largest outlet mall of Singapore, with more than 90 outlet stores and 220 retailers spread across the 5 levels of the mall. Famous brands like Adidas, Calvin Klein, Club 21, Converse, Hush Puppies, Michael Kors, Nike, Puma, Samsonite, Timberland, TUMI and many more have set up shop within this grand mall, with up to 80% discounts being offered throughout the year. The mall also accommodates warehouse spaces where shoppers can purchase products at factory price. This arrangement is in place with over 600 companies. More than 50 F&B options exist throughout the mall, offering a wide range of international dining options, from high-end Japanese fine-dining restaurants to streetside food kiosks. One can also find famous fast-food chains like McDonald's and Burger King. The giant hypermarket solves any problems that one may come across while living in the neighbouring suburbs. The mall also boasts of a wet and dry playground to keep children of all ages entertained during their trip to the mall.

Along with its numerous amenities, the mall offers a tourist privilege booklet, available at the customer service counter on level 1, with various offers that can be redeemed at the different stores of IMM. JCube

Home to Singapore's Olympic size ice-skating rink, JCube aims to be the prime destination in the fun, leisure and edutainment segment among the many shopping malls of Singapore. It is also the location of Singapore's first suburban IMAX theatre. The mall is home to about 150 outlets spread across categories such as dining, shopping, electrical & electronics, key-chain makers, a supermarket, department stores, bakeries, personal care, spa, gaming, gift shops, shoes, handbags, opticals, fast food joints, pet specialty outlets, salons, hobbies, jewelry & watches, toys, telecom, and books & stationery. The mall also houses a music school, laundromat, maid services, food court, cinema, and office spaces. The design of JCube is unique, modelled after an ice cube. Westgate

The Westgate shopping mall is located in the heart of Jurong Gateway, designed to be the prime destination for lifestyle and family shopping and entertainment in Singapore. This massive structure has 7 levels devoted to the services and functions of the mall and a 20-level office tower. While one can find a good variety of stores offering various products from electronics to furniture, the food and beverage options at the mall are plenty.

The Courtyard area is a sight to behold, a well-ventilated, semi-open space surrounded by many interesting and varied restaurants.
