Urgelling Monastery, Tawang Overview

Urgelling Gompa, situated approximately 3 kilometers from Tawang Township, is renowned as the birthplace of the 6th Dalai Lama, Tsangyang Tashi. Established in 1487 AD, this monastery holds immense importance for Buddhists. His Holiness the 6th Dalai Lama was born here in 1683 and lived in Urgelling Village. To reach the monastery, one can either hire a taxi or walk the short distance from Tawang.
