Tenerife Wineries, Tenerife Overview

Apart from the scintillating views and mesmerizing monuments and architecture, Tenerife in Spain is famous worldwide for its wines. Several wineries are over centuries old and are open for wine tasting and tours to visitors.

There are around 70 wineries in Tenerife and each of them is one of a kind. Most of the wineries in Tenerife are located on the northern side of the island, especially around La Orotava, Tacoronte, and Icod de los Vinos. The wineries in Tenerife produce wines that have two predominant basic characteristics - they are volcanic in nature and have high mineral concentrations. Moreover, they have a salty note due to the sub-tropical trade winds.

Five Top Wineries of Tenerife

Bodegas Monje - this is undoubtedly the best winery in Tenerife that offers a guided tour in English and Spanish. This place offers a magnificent view of the coastline and the ocean. The timings from Monday to Sunday are 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Two packages are offered here -
4 wines and 4 kinds of cheese - 12 Euro to 35 Euro
Mojo workshop with a wine tasting along with the winery tour - 22 Euro to 47 Euro

Bodegas Ferrera - this winery dates back to the 1940s and is set amidst the Guimar Valley, between the pine forest and the volcano. It costs around 50 Euros to visit and take part in the wine-tasting activities here. The Bodegas Ferrera is open to visitors on all days except Sundays, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Bodegas Reveron -  located 1,300 meters above sea level, this winery has an exclusive collection of wines. This place offers a wine-tasting tour along with charcuterie and other local delicacies. This winery is open on all days apart from Sundays and Mondays.

Alma de Trevejos - this is one of the hidden gems of Tenerife and is an excellent place for all wine enthusiasts. Open from Monday to Saturday (12:00 PM to 7:00 PM), apart from the exquisite collection of wines, this place is famous for its delicious tapas as well. 

Bodega El Lomo - this vineyard situated in the Tegueste Valley is now a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. This is one of the oldest wineries in Tenerife and contributes to a lot of winemaking history here. Along with guided tours, wine tasting, and other events, this place also has a local store that interests a lot of visitors. Emailing or booking beforehand is recommended.
