One of the most important tourist destinations in the south of India is Thekkady. Located right next to the world renown Periyar National park , Thekkady is home to elephants, tigers, gaur, lion-tailed macaques and Nilgiri langurs. The drive from Bangalore to Thekkady is quite long, however the views are lovely at some places. The train journey is the quickest way to travel between the two cities.
Driving down to Thekkady from Bangalore takes about 11 hours and can get boring. Some stretches on this route are beautiful and are worth the long journey.
