Lake Jipe is a scenic and serene freshwater lake located on the border between Kenya and Tanzania. Nestled in the shadow of the Pare Mountains and within close proximity to Tsavo West National Park, Lake Jipe is an ecological haven that boasts rich biodiversity and stunning landscapes. The lake covers an area of approximately 30 square kilometers and is primarily fed by the Lumi River, with outflows that connect to the Pangani River system.
Lake Jipe lies at an altitude of about 707 meters above sea level and extends roughly 12 kilometers in length and 3 kilometers in width. The lake's basin receives water from both the Lumi River, originating in the Kilimanjaro region, and from local runoff during the rainy season. The lake’s depth varies seasonally, with the average depth being around 3 meters, but it can fluctuate significantly depending on rainfall.
