Carved by glacial waters over thousands of years, it features striking rock formations, turquoise waters, and wooden walkways offering close views of the canyon. Open seasonally, it’s a popular destination for hiking and exploring the geological beauty of the region.
Another one of Zermatt's visually magnificent attractions, the Gorner Gorge is located at about a 20 minute walk from the Zermatt train station. Best visited during the month of September, the course of the river is marked by spectacular waterfalls and sights to behold. The rocks of the gorge are dated to be more than 200 million years old. The wooden walkway along the gorge bring the tourists just a few feet from the river aat places. The Gorner Gorge makes for a great visit with the family.
