I rarely write a review and my friends and I wanted to like this hotel but we moved after one night of getting no sleep.
Our room was described as having a courtyard view - instead it had a door which opened on to the courtyard so once the door was shut there was no air or natural light. And with no ventilation it smelled mouldy.
The room we booked was a King room but we were given a Queen room. It was a lot smaller and there was no explanation. If we hadnt pointed this out, we would have been charged the King rate, and as the hotel was fully booked, there was no possibility of changing rooms.
Our room had building services in it attached high up on the wall which included a loud electrical buzzing sound every 20 minutes through most of the night so we got no sleep.
The bathroom only had curtain dividers for the toilet and shower areas and was very poorly lit. There was no ventilation or fan in the bathroom area.
The hotel has a roof bar which it lets out for social functions - on the night we checked in there was a large wedding party with music that could be heard throughout the building at a level which made it impossible to sleep. We were told it would stop at 10pm but it was still going at 1am. The hotel also has speakers in its communal areas which stay on all night. This is in addition to the speakers and noise from other restaurants in the building. We complained to the night porter but nothing was done.
The next morning we decided to checkout so that we could enjoy our stay in Mexico City and had to negotiate through the receptionist (who was very friendly) as the manager would not come and meet us.
My advice would be to stay somewhere else. We found a fabulous 4star hotel overlooking Zocalo square and it cost considerably less.
