An Incentive to Offbeat Tourism

The event was inaugurated by the revered Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat. In his inaugural speech, he mentioned that the ideation for holding the carnival in Bhimtal was a good one as it could possibly boost tourism in the offbeat sites of Uttarakhand, thus bringing Bhimtal and other unconventional destinations of the state in light.

Adding to this, he said that the well-known tourist spots of Uttarakhand see a weekly influx of tourists whereas lesser known locations like Chakrata, Nainital, and even Lansdowne see a limited tourism growth. With such fiestas, tourists may be motivated to add eccentric sites like these to their itinerary while visiting Uttarakhand.

What's Exciting?

  • The carnival is set to witness folk singers like Kishan Mahipal and Meena Rana.
  •  Fusion bands such as Harmony are also said to grace the event.
  • A special folk night and a Bollywood night is also expected.
  • The festivity is set to reflect upon the traditions of Uttarakhand, especially the Kumaon region.

Future Festivities in the State

Nainital is also expected to host a Winter Carnival inclusive of a food fiesta which is tentatively scheduled around the time of Christmas.

Looks like Uttarakhand is upping its tourism-game with many such upcoming festivities!
