The Adler Planetarium founded in 1930 is the first museum in the United States committed to astronomy and astrophysics research works. It houses three full-size theatres, wide collections of space & science exhibits, some of the oldest scientific instruments, and one of the only research-active, public urban observatories, the Doane Observatory. Apart from these, it also has interactive exhibit galleries, award-winning sky shows, a 13-foot sundial, and America’s courtyard- a sculpture that captures the change of the season.
