Assan Barrage was formed due to the confluence of two great rivers of Uttarakhand's Assan and Yamuna River. Assan Barrage attracts thousands of birds of hundreds of species every year to its waters among which are some of the most rare and endangered bird species in the world. Located 32 km west of the city of Dehradun, Assan barrage is a wonderful place to be one with nature and bask in its infinite glory. The place buzzes with life and as such is a paradise for all the bird lovers out there. It is also popularly known as Dhaulipur Lake and is thronged by tourists and students alike who come to marvel at its beauty and bird life.
Air: Dehradun has its own airport which connects it to the rest of the country. Flights come in daily from all the major cities in the country. One can easily get a cab for Assan barrage or catch a bus from the airport.
Rail: The city has its rail head which connects it to the country. Trains from all parts of the country terminate at Dehradun. Cabs are easily available for Assan Barrage outside the railway station.
Road: Assan Barrage lies 32 km west of Dehradun and is well connected by a highway that goes towards Poanta Sahib. Public and private buses ply regularly connecting Dehradun to Assan Barrage.
