Daintree Rainforest, Great Barrier Reef Overview

The Daintree Rainforest, located in Far North Queensland near the Great Barrier Reef, is one of the world’s oldest rainforests and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Covering 1,200 square kilometers, it is home to diverse wildlife, including rare species like the cassowary. Visitors can explore its lush canopy, Mossman Gorge, and Cape Tribulation, where the rainforest meets the reef.

Home to rare and endemic species such as the southern cassowary, Boyd’s forest dragon, and the endangered Bennett's tree kangaroo, Daintree Rainforest features over 3,000 plant species, including ancient ferns and cycads that date back to the age of dinosaurs. The rainforest is of great cultural significance to the Kuku Yalanji people, who have lived in the area for thousands of years. Guided tours offer insights into their history, traditions, and connection to the land. You can enjoy zip-lining through the rainforest canopy, kayaking, or exploring the forest on 4WD tours.
