Bukit Merese is a unique seaside spot near Sengkol, 15 minutes scooter ride from Kuta Lombok and an hour’s walk away if you take a beach stroll. The top highlight is the hill summit, which offers spectacular ocean sunset views. Where the hill slopes down, white sand beaches stretch for a few meters, washed by the incessant waves of the Indian Ocean.
You can pick up snacks and drinks from the parking spot to enjoy while watching the view. The hike up the hill to the viewpoint from the parking is of 20-30 minutes and relatively easy. The setting sun paints the sky in beautiful hues of pink, orange, red, and purple, which makes this spot a popular sunset point. The hilltop also offers spectacular bird’s eye views of the ocean reef formations. There are multiple beaches and coves in the region where you can relax or swim. Tanjung Aan Beach, located east of Bukit Merese, is a fairly inhabited beach. Here, you can rent shaded sunbeds and grab your lunch.
