Royal Botanical Garden of Madrid is a historic botanical garden, renowned for its diverse collection of over 5,000 plant species, including ornamental, medicinal, and aromatic plants. It features a curated selection of bonsai trees and themed sections showcasing a variety of plant species, including tropical flora housed in original greenhouses. It is located adjacent to the Prado Museum. It also hosts seasonal exhibitions, such as the "Botanical Lights" during Christmas.
Established in 1755 by King Ferdinand VI, it was designed by architects Francisco Sabatini and Juan de Villanueva. Its neoclassical design, featuring notable elements like the Puerta de Murillo, Puerta del Rey, and the Villanueva Pavilion, adds to its appeal. The garden features ramps and provides maps indicating wheelchair-friendly routes. However, some visitors have noted that certain ramps can be challenging to navigate.
