The distance by road from Delhi to Mount Abu is a staggering 739 kilometres, which is a long journey. The journey is pretty smooth sailing as most of it includes National Highways or well- constructed roads that do not hinder smooth driving. Taxis are a preferred method of travel as they provide all the comforts of a private car journey while excluding the long tiring drive. While many cab operators and taxis travel this route every day, the fare is as high as INR 10000 to INR 15000 one way, which is not feasible for most unless it is a big group. However, taxis are the most common way of travelling from Abu Road to Mount Abu, which is a short ride and is used by individuals going to Abu Road by bus or train. This taxi fare is also considerably less at just INR 378.
Initially, individuals will take the National Highway 48 (NH48) after they leave Delhi. From here, join the National Highway 58 (NH58) and then exit through the Jaipur Bypass. Till here you will have to dodge several trucks, but after the bypass, the road is smooth and even gets wider. Till Kishangarh, the route to Mount Abu is the same for everyone, after which there are three possible ways that join at Abu Road.
The Routes That Can Be Taken
Route 1The first route is via Chittahrgarh- Udaipur which is also called the National Highway 79. This route is often considered as the best route as the roads are well made and have an abundance of facilities. However, it is a slightly longer route than the others.
Route 2Route 2 takes you through the Rajasanand- Udaipur road which is also called the National Highway 8. The roads via this route are two lane roads which are not divided in the middle. Additionally, the road has several ups and downs and bends that need to be driven through with an expert hand. Hence, this route may not be for those looking to drive smoothly or for beginners. However, it does provide a challenge.
Route 3The 3rd route is the one that goes through the Pali- Sirohi roads or more commonly known as National Highway 14 (NH14). This route is the most direct route to Mount Abu from Delhi and has proved to be an efficient way to reaching your destination.
All these routes eventually join at Abu Road which is at a distance of 27 kilometres from Mount Abu. The drive from here is a pleasant one and takes only half an hour to 40 minutes. The uphill road is lined with dense trees and unparalleled scenery with the occasional langur spotting that would keep you entertained. On the end of this road, you are likely to reach your destination- Mount Abu.
