Plakias beach is one of the main beaches in Plakias and stretches for approximately 1.3 kilometers. It is a less crowded beach offering various water sports such as windsurfing and kitesurfing. The beach has all basic amenities such as sunbeds, umbrellas, showers, and changing rooms. The eastern end of the beach is a designated nudist beach.

There are also nearby cliffs that provide excellent opportunities for hiking, with trails leading to breathtaking viewpoints and secluded beaches. Beyond the main Plakias Beach, there are several other nearby beaches worth exploring, including Skinos Beach, Souda Beach, Damnoni Beach, Ammoudi Beach, and Schinaria Beach. The area around Plakias also features attractions like the Kourtaliotiko Gorge, which offers a remarkable hiking experience with its stunning landscapes and diverse flora and fauna. The hike can lead you to the beautiful Preveli Beach.
