Also named the Largest Whale Exhibition in Europe, Whales of Iceland is a museum specializing in whales. Its exhibitions are dedicated to preserving and showcasing whale history and information. Iceland has its fair share of whales, the largest sea mammals in the world.
So, besides just seeing the whales out in the sea, people enjoy understanding more about them. The museum is full of vivid sculptures, informative exhibits, and interactive modules for visitors. A guided museum tour takes place every day at 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM, and visitors do not have to pay extra for it. The visitors can also enjoy the screening of the Emmy-winning documentary- Sonic Sea. Children visitors especially enjoy the massive whale sculptures with bright colours. Other interactive modules explain the whales' lives, anatomy, threats, etc. The museum has also created an app with an audio guide to help visitors better understand the exhibits. The museum also displays the movement of whales near Iceland through an interactive station.
