Tauranga is known for the markets that open primarily on weekends for locals and tourists who frequently shop at these events. Most of these are farmers’ markets or produce markets where growers and farmers sell their fresh produce to the customers. These markets are widely popular for the quality of fruits, vegetables, dairy, etc., that are found. Apart from the items sold, the markets usually have stalls serving breakfast and freshly brewed coffee.

The Little Big Markets

The Little Big Markets are held on the first Saturday of every month from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Coronation Park on Maunganui Road. There is no admission fee for the same. The market is well known amongst the locals for the various local food products it offers, which comes from the local artisans and producers.

Visitors can also enjoy the live music along with the events that the market hosts and collaborates with, such as the Tauranga Jazz Festival, The Waterfront Opening, Tauranga Arts Festival, Papamoa Beach Front Festival, Night Owl Cinema, Earth Hour, Hamilton Garden Arts Festival, Summer Festival and many more.

Historic Village Markets

The Historic Village Markets are held every first and third Sunday of the month from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Historic Village on the 17th Avenue, Tauranga. There is no admission fee for the same and the market has amenities like car parking, wheelchair access, and public toilets.

The market offers items like food, fruits, and vegetables, plants, crafts, tools, rawleys, coffee, clothing, books, Brick a Brack, etc. all coming from local artisans and producers. It is advised to the visitors to reach the venue at around 7:00 a.m. for the allocation of a site.

Mount Farmers' Market

The Mount Farmers’ Markets are held every Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Phoenix Car Park 141 Maunganui Road. There is no admission fee for the same. The markets offer items like fine fresh produce, bread, pastries, cheese, smoked fish, oils, chutneys, relishes, plants, seedlings, honey, fresh-cut flowers and more coming straight from the local artisans and purveyors along with live music on most weekends.

The markets also have stalls that offer fresh homegrown fruits and vegetables along with organic compost and other products for one’s garden.

Tauranga Farmers' Market

The Tauranga Farmers’ Market is held every Saturday of the month from 7:45 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on 5th Avenue in Tauranga. There is no admission fee for the same. The markets offer items such as fresh produce like certified organic items, baked food products, flowers and plants, coffee, etc. coming straight from the local producers and growers of the region. The markets also have live music performances and a playground for children.

Retro & Mod Sale

The Retro and Mod Sale will be held on the 27th of July, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Historic Village on the 17th Avenue West in Tauranga. Admission to the market is free of costs. The market has various vintage and retro items like fur stoles, coats, hats, clothing, fabrics, linen, shoes, furniture and much more. Only cash is accepted as a mode of payment to the vendors and all the proceeds, donations and funds go to the Turning Point Trust.

Community Night Markets

The Community Night Market will be held on the 9th of August, 2019 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Bethlehem Hall on 239a State Highway 2 in Bethlehem, Tauranga. There is no admission fee for entry to the market. The night market includes various handicrafts, clothing, food items, etc. personally sold by the local artisans and producers at their own stalls.

Oropi Sunday Market

The Oropi Sunday Markets are held on the last Sunday of every month from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Oropi Memorial Hall on 1295 Oropi Road in Tauranga. There is no admission fee for entry to the market, and the stalls displayed are typical of the local products of Oropi, with a wide range of things available for everyone.

Atrium Art and Artisan Fair

The Atrium Art and Artisan Fair is held on the last Sunday of every month from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Black Sheep Restaurant and Atrium Gallery which is located on 21 Plummers Point Road in Tauranga. There are no admission charges for the same. The stalls displayed at the fair have arts and handicrafts made by the local artisans and artists of the region.

The Extravaganza Fair

The Extravaganza Fair will be held on the 15th and the 16th of February, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Memorial Park which is located on Devonport Road in Tauranga. There are no admission charges for entry to the same. The Fair includes all kinds of stalls ranging from food to handicrafts and much more along with local shows for the visitors. The fair is also known for showcasing unique, tiny solar-powered homes.
