Jaffa or Yafo is an ancient port city in Tel-Aviv at the southern end of the town. Perched atop a hill overlooking the stunning Mediterranean sea, the area’s winding alleyways and narrow streets are perfect for an evening stroll and watching the sunset.
The city is home to a mixed population with both Jews and Arabs living here. Biking along the Jaffa Port, which is still an active fishing port, and visiting the famous landmarks are at the top of every tourist's itinerary. The Clock Square and St. Peter's Church, two Ottoman period masterpieces, are surrounded by restaurants, little shops, and must-see local attractions. The city's flea market is truly the region's highlight, with something for everyone. Visitors can buy vintage clothes, antiques, souvenirs, and Turkish carpets, among a hundred other things. In addition, one can visit various mosques, churches and monasteries, including Nouzha Mosque on Jerusalem Boulevard and Saint Nicholas Armenian Monastery.
