St. Peter’s Monastery is a Franciscan church located in the historical part of Jaffa in Tel Aviv. Dedicated to Saint Peter, it was built in the 19th century over the ruins of a Crusader citadel and is a magnificent edifice built out of bricks. It is known for its tall bell tower and a cross at the top that rests on a rock.
St. Peter's Church has impressive interiors that resemble European cathedrals. Inside is a beautiful stained glass, a high vaulted ceiling, marble walls and columns, and four panels depicting several notable events in the life of Saint Peter. There are windows that also depict scenes such as the Immaculate Conception, Tabitha, Spanish Saints and more. It has a wooden pulpit carved in the shape of a fruiting tree and a 13th-century remains of St. Louis' citadel where Napoleon Bonaparte is said to have stayed. Sunday Mass is conducted here in English, Spanish and Hebrew. There is a massive Christmas tree at the church in December.
