Agnigarh, Tezpur Overview
Steeped in Hindu mythological lore, Agnigarh was said to be once the fortress where the Asura King Banasura imprisoned his daughter Usha who sought the love of Aniruddha, the grandson of Lord Krishna. Today it is a hillock operated as a park where sculptures tell the tale of the abduction of Aniruddha by Usha and the ensuing battle fought by Lord Krishna to retrieve his grandson. There is also a viewing platform where the entire city of Tezpur can be seen from.
