Vishnu Temple, Varkala Overview

Vishnu Temple is an ancient temple dating back around 2,000 years, located very close to Varkala Beach in Thiruvananthapuram. The temple is dedicated to Janardhana Swami, believed to be an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Its traditional Kerala temple architecture, with a copper-sheeted dome, carved Navagrahas in wood, and a copper-plated roof, is worth seeing. The temple is also associated with a legend involving Lord Brahma, who is said to have cursed his Prajapatis, and Narada, who helped them absolve their sins.
