Zakynthos Town Port is located on the east coast of the island. It begins from Solomos Square and stretches to the Agios Dionysios Church within the capital. One of the island's most popular and crowded spots, the port is lined with Venetian-style white houses, traditional restaurants, cafes, and souvenir shops. The port waterfront has a promenade area and several small gardens for a scenic stroll.
The Solomos Square is an open plaza on the seafront named after the famous Greek Poet Dionysios Solomos. Statues of poets and other historical figures are built across the waterfront. The Bochali area viewing point is a must-visit for a mesmerising panoramic view of the entire harbour. The Solomos Square Is home to the Byzantine Museum of Zakynthos, the city cultural centre, the municipal library, and the Church of Saint Nicholas, which is the only church on the island to withstand the infamous earthquake. Tourists can also rent a private boat or take a full-day boat trip on one of the ferries to the famous Navagio Shipwreck Beach, Machariado village, Blue caves, Laganas Bay, and many more sites around the island.
