About This Property

The Priory is nestled within the historic town of Caerleon on the River Usk. Dating back to 1180, this hotel was originally a Cistercian monastery. It has a fantastic à la carte restaurant, and is si (Read More)tuated in secluded grounds in the historic town of Caerleon, on the River Usk. Many of the traditional rooms at The Priory Hotel retain original period features, and all come with a flat-screen multi-channel TV. Rooms all have picturesque views, their own bathroom, and a work desk. Each morning, breakfast is provided in the Oak Panel Room, with its antique stained glass and wooden panels that date back to 1622. The restaurant offers a wide-ranging menu for evening meals, and outdoor seating is available in the pretty gardens. The centre of Newport is just a 10-minute drive from The Priory. Cardiff and Bristol can both be reached in around 30 minutes by car.

Good

Comfortable beds although room was rather small, shower was great.

I wasn't a fan of the breakfast options, the food and portion sizes were a huge disappointment. I asked for bacon and eggs on toast and received a small slice of toast and a small slice of thick bacon. It wasn't filling and no options for continental such as cereals, croissants etc.

Another spectacular visit to The Priory

Another regular favourite I return to as often as I can. Beautiful location, great facilities and wonderful accommodation

As a v minor niggle breakfast options for my vegan friend were limited

Great hotel eat in Caerleon many better restaurants and better value

Lovely room poor type and cost of food service very slow restaurant over booked not enough staff to cope

As above an example we had a table for 5 main part of meal cooked very well side's min over cooked desserts cold when arrived after coffes ordered after ordering desserts dessert sent back again complained to manager who refunded desserts and coffee

Ive stayed here a few times with my son. This is a great period hotel with a fantastic restaurant and individual rooms all to a high standard.

My only gripe is breakfast - the only offering is a la carte/ cooked to order. This invariably takes 30 minutes and is disappointing as most guests naturally have somewhere to go in the morning and like us cant wait around. The breakfast a la carte menu is also very high brow which is not suitable for teenagers nor families. In my opinion the hotel is trying too hard and a simpler fayre would suffice

Perfect. Ive found a gem.

Attention to detail is 10/10. The staff felt like a warm hug on arrival they were so so friendly and helpful and just made me feel relaxed straight away. Cava poured at reception, escorted to my room and booked in for dinner. The food was incredible so fresh - its literally lay on ice waiting for be cooked. The staff couldnt do enough for you it was Amazing! Ill be back with my partner to enjoy. The rooms were so tasteful and gorgeous and the classical music playing in arrival was just lush! I had breakfast in my room and it was lovely. I stay away a lot with work and this has trumped all other hotels.

This is a great hotel. Only place to stay if working locally

As with a few hotels, the body wash & shampoo is attached to the wall which is fine if having a shower. No good if you want a bath as unreachable. Also only a suggestion but the breakfast comes with a piece of bacon which is mainly fat. Not an issue for many but I would prefer a couple of rashers of back bacon

The environment and location are fine but the owners need to look at using Welsh theme and the menu.

Room. Location. Garden.

The breakfast menu. Better to style the breakfast as more traditional and not make the food style above tradition. Normal cooked breakfast would be better. Sourdough bread does not work- to hard when toasted. Better to have buffet choice for juice, cereals, fruit etc. Cooked to order for hot is fine. Say on menu there are choices on cooked breakfast. Better to use Welsh produce. Asked for daily paper not delivered. Room not cleaned.
