E-Visa Validity & Processing Time

The validity of an e-Visa depends on the service requested in the application form:
e-Tourist Visa (1 year / 5 years): Valid for 365 days or 5 years from the date of ETA grant, allowing multiple entries. The maximum stay in India in one calendar year should not exceed 180 days.
e-Tourist Visa (30 days): Valid for 30 days from the date of first arrival in India, permitting double entries within the e-Visa validity period stamped on your passport. Your first arrival must be between the issue date and the expiry date of the ETA.
Processing Time: 72 Hours

Important Considerations
  • Application Timing: Apply for your e-Visa at least 4 days before your intended arrival date in India.
  • Non-Extendable and Non-Convertible: E-Visas are non-extendable and non-convertible. They cannot be used for visiting protected/restricted areas.
  • Yellow Fever Vaccination: Nationals of Yellow Fever affected countries or travelers arriving from these countries must carry a Yellow Fever Vaccination Card. Without this, travelers may be quarantined for 6 days upon arrival in India. Please visit the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare’s latest guidelines regarding yellow fever countries here.
  • Passport Requirement: You must travel on the passport used for the e-Visa application. Entry will be allowed into India on a new passport even if the ETA was issued on the old passport, provided you carry the old passport as well.
