The Tourist Visa is granted to foreigners who do not have a residence or occupation in India and whose sole objective of visiting India is recreation, sightseeing, or casual visits to friends and relatives. The visa also permits attending short-term yoga programs. No other activities, including employment or business, are allowed on a tourist visa.

India Visa Application Process

Online Application

  • Singaporean citizens can apply for an Indian visa online through the Indian Visa Online portal (https://indianvisaonline.gov.in).
  • Visit the Indian Visa Online portal and select the appropriate visa category.
  • Fill out the online application form with accurate personal and travel details.
  • Upload the required documents and photographs.
  • Pay the visa fee online using a credit or debit card.
  • Submit the application, Print out the completed online application form, duly signed.
Restrictions
  • Pakistani Origin: If the applicant or either of their parents or grandparents (paternal or maternal) was born in, or was permanently resident in Pakistan.
  • Diplomatic/Official Passports: Holders of Diplomatic or Official passports.
  • UN and International Travel Documents: Holders of UNLP (UN Passport) and other international travel documents, such as those issued by INTERPOL.

Documents Required for Indian Visa from Singapore

  • A valid passport with at least six months of validity and two blank pages.
  • A recent passport-sized photograph.
  • A copy of the completed online visa application form.
  • Photocopy of the passport bio-page and a copy of the IC (NRIC, EP, S Pass, or WP).
  • Proof of residence in Singapore (e.g., utility bill, lease agreement).
  • Additional documents based on the visa type (e.g., invitation letter for a business visa, admission letter for a student visa).

Indian e-Visa Fee for Singaporeans

General Rates of Visa Fee (Effective from 01.04.2024)
The visa fees for Indian visa applications in Singapore Dollars (SGD) are as follows:

Tourist Visa (T)
  • Upto 1 Year / Single or Multiple Entry: SGD 137
  • More than 1 Year and upto 5 Years / Multiple Entry: SGD 270
Non-Refundable Visa Fee: The visa fee is non-refundable regardless of the application outcome, whether the applicant withdraws the application after submission, or if the visa cannot be processed within the desired timeframe.
Non-Extendable: The tourist visa cannot be extended or converted to other visa types. The total stay in India on a tourist visa should not exceed 180 days in a calendar year, with each visit not exceeding 90 days.

Document Submission at BLS Centre in Singapore

After completing the online application, submit the printed application form along with the required documents at the nearest Indian Visa Application Center (IVAC) or the Indian High Commission in Singapore. BLS International Services is the only authorized agency for Indian visa services in Singapore. There are two primary Visa Application Centres managed by BLS International Services. These centres are strategically located in Little India and the Central Business District (CBD) to provide convenient access.

Note:  
  • The High Commission of India in Singapore does not accept visa applications except from diplomatic, official, and UNLP passport holders. All other visa applications are accepted by the outsourced service provider, BLS International Services, at the IVACs.
  • There's a service fee for handling each visa application at the BLS Centre.

Indian Visa Processing Time & Validity

The processing time for an Indian visa is typically 3 to 5 working days. However, it may vary based on the type of visa and individual circumstances. 
Validity: The e-Visa is valid for 60 days from the date of issuance and allows double entry for tourism and business visas and triple entry for medical visas.
Note: The e-Visa must be applied at least 4 days before the date of arrival and can be used within 120 days of issuance.

General Instructions for Indian Visa from Singapore

  • Dual Citizenship Policy: India does not recognize dual citizenship for its nationals. Indian citizens who have acquired foreign citizenship by naturalization must provide a copy of their old and canceled Indian passport and a Renunciation Certificate of Indian citizenship when applying for any type of Indian visa.
  • Travel with Old and New Passports: Applicants can travel with an old or expired passport carrying a valid Indian visa along with a new passport, provided the personal particulars remain the same on both passports. There is no provision for transferring a valid Indian visa from an old passport to a new one.
  • Visa on Arrival Policy:Visas on arrival are only available to nationals of Japan, UAE, and South Korea under specific conditions as per bilateral agreements. All other foreign nationals must obtain an e-visa or regular visa before traveling to India.
  • Biometric Submission Requirement: All visa applicants must record their biometrics when submitting their regular visa applications. Applicants must be present in person at the time of submission.
  • Passport Requirements: Applicants' passports must have a minimum validity of six months and two blank pages at the time of visa application submission. All valid and old passports must also be submitted along with the application form.
  • Visa Issuance Policy: Visas can only be issued from the applicant’s country of origin or domicile. Non-Singapore nationals who are casual visitors should apply for an Indian visa in their country of residence or origin.
  • Prohibited Items: Foreigners are not permitted to carry satellite phones into India.
