Step 2: Apply Online
Visit the official Indian e-Visa website: Indian e-Visa Application- Fill out the Application Form: Provide accurate details in all required fields.
- Upload Documents: Upload your photograph, passport bio page, and any additional documents.
- Review and Validate: Ensure all information is correct before submitting.
Step 3: Pay the e-Visa Fee
- Payment Method: Pay the applicable e-Visa fee online. Fees are country/territory-specific and include a 2.5% bank transaction charge.
- Non-refundable: The fee is non-refundable regardless of visa approval.
- 30-Day e-Visa (April to June): $10 USD
- 30-Day e-Visa (July to March): $25 USD
- 1-Year e-Visa: $40 USD
- 5-Year e-Visa: $80 USD
Step 4: Receive Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA)
After submitting the application and fee payment, you will receive an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) via email.The ETA confirms whether your visa application has been approved ("GRANTED").
Step 5: Print ETA and Travel Authorization
Print a copy of the ETA received via email. You will need to present this along with your passport at the Indian immigration checkpoint upon arrival.Immigration Check at Indian Airport
- Upon arrival in India, proceed to the immigration counter.
- Present your passport with the printed ETA and travel authorization for verification.
- Biometric details (fingerprints and photograph) will be captured at the immigration checkpoint.
Important Information for Indian E-Visa Applicants
- Passport: Ensure that your passport (used for e-visa application) is valid for at least six months from the date of arrival in India.
- Validity and Entries: E-visas are typically valid for up to 1 year (depending on the type) with multiple entries allowed.
- Processing Time: Applications are usually processed within 4 business days, but it's advisable to apply at least 4 days in advance of your travel date.
- Non-Extendable: E-visas cannot be extended or converted into other types of visas once issued.
- Yellow Fever Requirement: Travelers from Yellow Fever affected countries must carry a Yellow Fever Vaccination Card.
- Application Status: You can track your application status online using your application ID.
- Visa Refunds: The e-visa fee is non-refundable regardless of whether the visa is granted or rejected.
How to Apply Indian Visa from Kenya In Person?
Step 1: Online Application
Start by filling out the visa application form online at Indian Visa Online Portal.Ensure all information provided is accurate and matches your passport details
SU-SWAGATAM Mobile App:
Optionally, use the SU-SWAGATAM (Visit India) mobile app for filling online visa applications, especially for Business & Medical visas.
The app is integrated with the e-FRRO portal, facilitating visa extensions and other services while in India.
Step 2: Form Submission
Take a print out of the completed application form and ensure you have all necessary documents.Required Documents:
- Print the filled-in application form.
- Prepare two recent color photographs (51mm x 51mm) with a white background (not older than 3 months).
- Prepare the following documents:Original passport with a clear copy.
- Clear copy of your carta d’identità (ID card) if not a European citizen.
- Clear copy of your Permesso di Soggiorno (residence permit) if applicable.
- Proof of purpose of visit (e.g., air ticket, hotel bookings).
- Bank statement for the past six months showing sufficient funds.

Step 3: Visa Fee Payment

- Payment can be made at the Kenyatta Avenue Branch of Bank of India in Nairobi or directly at the High Commission using M-Pesa/Master Card/Visa Card.
- Indian Community Welfare Fund (ICWF): Each service is subject to a surcharge of Ksh. 300/- for Passport, Attestation, and Miscellaneous Consular Services, and Ksh. 400/- for Visa, OCI/PIO services. This surcharge is in addition to the passport/consular fees mentioned above and contributes towards the Indian Community Welfare Fund (ICWF).
Important Guidelines
- All visitors from Kenya and Somalia must have a valid Yellow Fever and Oral Polio Vaccination certificate issued at least 10 days and 4 weeks before travel, respectively.
- Ensure original documents are presented for verification during submission.
- The Assistant High Commission reserves the right to decline a visa application even if the visa fee has been paid. Payment of the fee does not guarantee the issuance of a visa.
- The list of documents mentioned above is not exhaustive. Additional documents may be required, which can only be determined after the applicant appears in person with the original documents and meets with our consular officer.
- Visa fees are non-refundable.
- The validity of the visa is effective from the date of its issue.
- If the visa applicant is not a permanent resident of Kenya or does not hold a Kenyan resident permit, the visa processing time may be extended. Visa fees may also differ in such cases, and additional documents may be requested.
