How to Apply an Indian e-Visa from Malaysia?

Eligibility for e-Visa
  • International travelers holding a Pakistani passport or of Pakistani origin should apply for a regular visa at an Indian mission.
  • e-Visas are not available to diplomatic/official passport holders or laissez-passer travel document holders.
  • Each individual must have a separate passport; e-Visas are not available to those endorsed on a parent's or spouse's passport.
  • e-Visas are not available to international travel document holders other than passport holders.

Step 1: Gather Required Documents

Prepare the necessary documents before starting your application. The common documents required for an Indian e-Visa include:
  • A scanned copy of your passport’s bio page (must have at least six months validity from the date of arrival in India and two blank pages).
  • A recent passport-sized photograph with a white background.

Step 2: Fill Out the Online Application Form

  • Visit the official Indian e-Visa application portal: Indian e-Visa Application.
  • Select the appropriate e-Visa category and click on "Apply here for e-Visa."
  • Complete the online application form with accurate details. Ensure all information matches the details in your passport.
  • Upload the required documents (passport copy, photograph, and any additional documents depending on your e-Visa type).

Step 3: Pay the Visa Fee

After completing the application form and uploading the necessary documents, proceed to pay the e-Visa fee online using a credit or debit card. Ensure you receive a payment receipt, which will be required for tracking your application.

e-Visa Types and Fees for Malaysian:
  • 30-day e-Visa: April to June: $10 USD
  • 30-day e-Visa: July to March: $25 USD
  • 1-year e-Visa: $40 USD
  • 5-year e-Visa: $80 USD
Note: Bank charge of 2.5% will be charged additional on applicable e-Visa fees.

Step 4: Submit the Application

Once the payment is successful, review your application for any errors. Submit the application and note the application ID for future reference. You will receive an acknowledgment email confirming the submission of your application.

Step 5: Track Your Application

You can track the status of your e-Visa application using the application ID provided at the time of submission. Visit the Indian e-Visa Status Enquiry page and enter your application ID and passport number to check the status.

Step 6: Receive Your e-Visa

If your application is approved, you will receive an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) via email. This document will allow you to travel to India. Print a copy of the ETA and carry it with you when you travel.
Upon arrival in India, present your printed ETA at the immigration counter. The immigration officers will verify your ETA and stamp your passport with the actual visa.

Important Notes
  • Validity: The e-Visa is valid from the date of issue, not from the date of entry into India.
  • Duration: Ensure you apply for the appropriate e-Visa type based on the duration and purpose of your visit. Tourist e-Visas are generally valid for 60 days with double entry, while other categories may have different validity periods.
  • Non-extendable: e-Visas are non-extendable and non-convertible.
  • Funds & Flight Tickets: International travelers should have a return ticket or an onward journey ticket, along with sufficient funds for their stay in India.
