A Tourist Visa is issued to foreigners visiting India for recreation, sightseeing, casual visits to friends and relatives, short-term yoga programs, or short-duration medical treatment, including treatments under the Indian system of Medicine. It is non-extendable, non-convertible, and cannot be used for business, studies, conferences, employment, or journalism. For nationals of Afghanistan, China, Iran, Pakistan, persons of Pakistani origin, and stateless persons, there must be a gap of at least two months between two visits on a Tourist Visa. Visiting restricted areas requires prior permission.
