Processing Time & Validity

The processing time is typically 7-10 working days, but it may take longer depending on factors such as the number of applications, applicant's nationality, and other considerations.

The validity of an Indian visa can range from 30 days to 1 year or up to 5 years. However, the final decision on the visa's duration is at the discretion of the embassy and depends on the applicant's nationality.

  • Acceptance of the disembarkation card by Immigration officials does not equate to registration.
  • A separate Certificate of Registration/Residential Permit (RP) is issued upon fulfilling necessary conditions.

General Advice

  • Ensure that the personal contact number of the applicant is filled in the "applicant contact details" section of the online visa application form. Forms containing agent contact numbers instead of the applicant's contact number will not be accepted at the India Visa Application Centre.
  • Tourist Visa is granted to foreigners with no residence or occupation in India. Sole objective must be for recreation, sightseeing, or casual visits to meet friends and relatives. No other activities are permissible on a Tourist Visa.
  • The visa is non-extendable and non-convertible to other types of visas. Misuse can lead to deportation by Indian authorities and denial of future visa applications by the Mission.
  • Validity is maximum period of 12 months.
  • Repeated applications for Tourist Visa will not be entertained.
