A Cabinet Meeting held on Friday 4th September, led to the decision of launching the Tourist Incentive Coupon (TIC) plan. Through this, the government aims to boost the state’s tourism industry, which earns the majority of the revenues and generates employment opportunities. The tourism industry faced a major impact by the lockdown and travel restrictions implemented due to COVID-19.

- The offer will come into effect in the next couple of days and will be applicable for those tourists making e-bookings for a minimum of 3 days at hotels or homestays within the Uttarakhand state.
- Tourists will receive a discount coupon upon registering themselves under the tourist category on the government site. The coupon can then be redeemed during their stay in tourist spots.
- Furthermore, tourists will be required to provide their Aadhaar card details while registering to be able to redeem the discount coupon. The offer will also be made for Char-Dham Pilgrims.
- The tourists will be able to avail of a discount of up to Rs. 1000 or 25%, whichever is of lesser value, of the per day hotel charge under this plan. The government will reimburse the discounted amount to the hotel and homestays within a time period of 15 days on presenting necessary documents and proof of the bill charged to the tourist.
