The best time to visit Bongaigaon is from late October to early March. This period is generally considered the winter period when the days are cool and nights are chilly with minimal to no rainfall. Humidity during this time is at a minimum. The winter period marks the migratory season when many birds land at the lush surroundings of the city.
From late March to June, the summer season can see temperatures rise high in the range of mid to upper 30s. The humidity also starts to increase, making the climate sultry. Heavy and erratic rainfall starts to occur from late April with the onset of Bordoisila (a wild and warm summer wind).
Monsoon season starts from July till September, marking long heavy rains during the daytime or at nights. While the rains reduce the temperatures down to the low 30s or high 20s, the humidity is generally very high. Travel is ill-advised as parts of the state become inundated during the monsoons in Assam.
