Although not a tropical rainforest, Kurunegala features tropical rainforest weather (hot and tropical) throughout the year. The rocks encompassing this region plays a key role in determining the regional weather, as they store heat during the day. The average city temperature changes only slightly. During April, the temperature can touch up to 35 degrees Celsius, and the only change happens during the monsoons - May to August and October to January when heavy showers are expected.
Considering the weather, humidity and rainfall, the best time to visit Kurunegala is from March to April (the hot season). It can be visited during the dry season, as well, if mild showers in January and February is not a problem. Besides, the temperatures can also get a bit lower comparatively, from the end of November to mid-February.
