Botanical Gardens in Dallas

Lake Highlands Community Garden is the first garden of its kind that promotes neighborhood food gardening in the city of Dallas. Spread over 2.27-acres, this garden was established in 2008 and fully run by donations and voluntary work.

Grapevine Botanical Gardens at Heritage Park are an incredible place for photos and for celebrating special events due to its lush green beauty. Many people choose this as a proposal place while it is also popular as a wedding shoot venue. It has plenty of perennial flowers, plants, bushes, and trees and hence attracts many for a leisure stroll.

The Trial Garden, as the name suggests, is an area within the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden that is created for plant-based researches. The main aim of the Trial Garden is to evaluate a variety of plants in the drastic climate of the Metroplex and North Central Texas.

Val Late Garden of Memories is a relatively new addition to the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden. It is a quiet and spacious lawn, built with the purpose of relaxation. One can sit here for hours and get lost in the beauty as it has seasonal beds, making the garden beautiful in all the seasons.

Pecan Grove is located within the stretch of Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden. Pecan Grove is famous for the nationally acclaimed Pumpkin Village that is formed here during fall. It consists of over 90,000 pumpkins, gourds, and squash, making it a picturesque sight. Not only in fall, but the view becomes breathtaking in spring too with the cherry blossoms in bloom.

Boswell Family Garden was a gift by Dr. George Boswell to his family. It is located within the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden to the north of the McCasland Sunken Garden. It is famous for the beautiful and diverse rose varieties and is surrounded by the Gazebo, Octagonal Fountain, and the Magnolia Allee.

The Nancy Rutchik Red Maple Rill is a two-acre garden that is a part of the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden. The characteristic feature of the garden is the collection of over 80 different types of Japanese maples.

Cliff Temple Community Garden was built in partnership with BC workshop and Cliff Temple Baptist Church in North Oak Cliff. The is located in the north parking lot of Cliff Temple Baptist Church serves as a part of Well Ministry, which supports people with mental illness. Members of the Well, gardeners from the Cliff Temple congregation, and local community members work on the garden and contribute to the Goslin Opportunity Center and food pantry of the church.

Unity Community Gardens is located in the Round Rock area and was founded in 2010 by Neighborhood Harvest Project, a non-profit organization. This is an all-organic garden that promotes community building through learning and growing food. It is run and managed by volunteers who aim at sustainable living.

Live Oak Community Garden is spread across 1.5-acres and was formed around 2013. In the last 6 years, the ground has been divided into over 57 plot gardens to grow a variety of plants for production. The volunteers and members have experimented with many gardening styles that have resulted in the thriving of the garden.

Known for its lush green gardens, annual events, concerts, classes, cafes and restaurants, and much more, the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden in East Dallas, Texas is a must-visit destination while in the city. The Garden was established in the 1930s and the Arboretum in the 1980s, and the combined property was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

Deep Ellum Urban Gardens is an urban community garden located in the Deep Ellum neighborhood. It was created by the residents and professionals in and around Deep Ellum, downtown, and Farmers Market.

Belo Garden is a public park managed by the City of Dallas and Downtown Dallas Inc. in downtown Dallas’ Main Street District. Open throughout the year, the park offers visitors a refuge from the busy city. It opened to the public in 2012 and was formerly a parking lot.

Main Street Garden Park, surrounded by Main Street, Commerce Street, Harwood Street and St. Paul Street, in downtown Dallas, is a public park that opened in 2009 and has multiple amenities. It is a preferred park for many, especially from the downtown area, to enjoy a stroll, do some yoga, go jogging, sit under the sun on the lawn or bring their dogs to its urban run.

Located opposite the Farmers Branch lane, this Rose Garden was a gift to the city of Dallas in the honor of Ruthan Rose, a rose enthusiast and past president and member of the Brookhaven Garden Club and the Dallas Rose Society. Also known as the Ruthan Rogers Rose Garden, it is set up in a historical setting and was designed by Pam Smith, Dallas’ Park Landscape Manager.

Situated at the corner of Cedar Springs and Hood Street in the Oak Lawn neighbourhood, Dragon Park is not exactly a proper garden but a private lush green piece of land in the middle of the city that isn’t the easiest to find. It was built to accompany the adjacent Select Salon Dallas and has several mystical yet calming features that make it the idyllic location to relax.

Rory Meyers Children's Adventure Garden is a part of the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden. It is designed with the purpose to impart education to children, develop scientific acumen, and bring them closer to nature.

Dallas DeGolyer Estate consists of the 4.5-acre DeGolyer Gardens adorned by 21,000 sq ft. home of the famous geophysicist and philanthropist Everette Lee DeGolyer. It is a landmark in Dallas and the estate forms a part of the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens.

Texas Discovery Gardens is located inside Dallas’ Fair Park and works with a mission of discovering ways to sustain the natural world. This 7.5-acre garden contains both native and exotic plants. The highlight of Texas Discovery Gardens is the two-story Rosine Smith Sammons Butterfly House and Insectarium.

Stone Street Gardens is like a little cranny connecting Main Street and Elm Street. It is an urban oasis in downtown Dallas that is a collection of eating and hangout joints with varieties like Mexican, modern American, and seafood, and classic Italian.

The North Haven Gardens is a nursery that began in 1951 on nine acres of grassland. Founded by Ralph and Muriel Pinkus, this destination garden center organizes workshops and has an art gallery as well.
