Rhodes International Airport, also known as Diagoras International Airport is located about 13-16 kilometers from Rhodes Town. The airport receives flights from Athens, Thessaloniki, and other Greek locations. The flight time from Athens to Rhodes is approximately 50 minutes. During the summer, many European airlines offer direct flights to Rhodes. Major airlines include Qatar Airways, Etihad, Turkish Airways, and Gulf Air. Olympic Air and Aegean Airlines operate flights year-round.
Rhodes is well-connected by ferry services, which offer a scenic and leisurely way to reach the island. From Athens (Piraeus Port), ferries operate approximately 4-5 times a week. The journey lasts between 16 to 18 hours. From Other Greek Islands, Rhodes is linked by ferry to islands such as Kos, Patmos, Leros, and Simi. There are also routes from Heraklion and Karpathos, around 3 times a week.
From Turkey: Ferries are available from Marmaris in Turkey to Rhodes. It takes about 1 hour by 1 hour and the ferry tickets costs EUR 55 onwards.
By Public Buses: Public buses are the best option for exploring the island. However, some bus routes including Lindos are always crowded. Tickets and passes can be bought at the main bus station, local kiosks, or directly from the bus driver. The cost of a single bus ticket within the city starts at approximately €1.50. For those planning multiple trips in a day, a day pass is available, offering unlimited travel for around €5. For extended stays, a weekly pass can be purchased for about €20, providing unlimited travel on the local bus network.
For a more relaxed air conditioned tour, book Hop on and off buses. The buses cost approximately 15 Euros per person.
By Taxi: Taxis are a convenient and reliable way to travel around Rhodes. Uber alos operates in Rhodes. Taxis are available from the Airport to several locations on the Rhodes Island for predecided charges. To old town they charge about €26, to Faliraki about €27 and to Lindos about €70. Taxis also serve the east and west sides of the island, with destinations such as Kolymbia, Seven Springs, and the Butterfly Valley having specific fare rates.

Sea Buses and Water Taxis: For those looking to explore nearby islands or travel along the coast, sea buses and water taxis provide a unique mode of transportation. Daily routes are available to Halki island, departing from the small port of Skala Kamirou. Additionally, water taxis from the old port of Rhodes Town can take you to various coastal destinations, offering a scenic and enjoyable travel experience.
Walking: While Rhodes is too large to explore entirely on foot, walking is the best way to navigate Rhodes Town. The town’s layout makes it easy to stroll from one tourist attraction to another without the need for a vehicle.
